Fake News

Donald trump may well have been right when he accused the American media of presenting fake news. Consider this for a moment. Did you know that baby spice didn't talk to ginger spice for 'some time' after she quit the spice girls. I didn't, and I am so very thankful to whichever journalist and media outlet found this out and wasted countless resources bringing it to, not only my attention, but the worlds attention. Also in breaking news today, Connor McGregor was arrested for armed robbery after smashing a fans phone. This could be a worthy discussion if the article dealt with the hyperbolic reactions of Miami police for turning a simple act of vandalism into a major felony, but predictably it didn't. Two days ago I tried to find out just how many female politicians have left the liberal party under new leader and prime minister Scott Morrison, two days later all I can ascertain from the combined might of global media is that it is more than it should be. Meanwhile I can find the highschool a pornstar attended within thirty seconds of the question being directed my way. Which is where I start agreeing with Donald Trumps statement.

Because at the same time the following is happening in the real world, Adani protestors lock themselves to train tracks continuing a 70 plus hour lockout of trains heading to the controversial mining development. A development that threatens not only the Australian ecology but the Australian economy and the working rights of blue collar Australians. Homelessness is on the rise in every major city in the globe and the rights of the homeless are being disintegrated on a minute to minute basis. With many homeless people being considered criminal for the simple act of failing to secure an abode. West Papua is currently undergoing a genocide, its indigenous citizens being kidnapped and murdered in the night and castrated in the day. Meanwhile the Australian government is too gutless to do anything for our beloved saviours of the Kokoda trail during world war two due to a recent foreign trade agreement. Whilst simultaneously claiming  that the history of Australian engagements in the pacific needs to be taught more in schools.

All this genuine news remains hidden from the general public as we're force fed a false reality of celebrity gossip and political misdirection. Played like puppets in a game of owned by a visibly obscured hierarchy whose sole goal is to control more souls than the next financially gluttonous overlord. Real issues that affect the way we live our lives, and will be forced to live our lives, remain hidden away in favour of easily digested 'fake' news.
